Yesterday, President Gordon B. Hinckley of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint passed away. This is a very sad thing for so many people. He was such an amazing man. He was so dynamic and cheerful and above all, close to God. It hit me really hard and I am incredibly sad that he has left this life, but also happy for him that he has been able to reunite with his beloved wife and been able to be relieved from his heavy responsibilities that he has carried for the past 13 years that he has served as the Lord's mouth piece on earth.
I had this picture in my mind last night of throngs of people standing at the gates of heaven waiting to see him. There were all the past prophets of the church waiting to meet with him in counsel...sort of a debriefing, and then just lots of people wanting to hug him and shake his hand (ancestors and members of the church and such), and then off to the side, by herself, was standing Marjorie, his eternal wife. The way I see it, he only had eyes for her. He had the usual smile of his for everyone, but he waved to everyone in a way that said, there will be time for all of you in a day or two, but I got some time to make up with this lady. I'm sure he is a very very happy man right now. Nevertheless, I will miss him very much. I know that he was a Prophet of the Lord, but I also know that the new prophet will be exactly who the Lord designates and who we will need in this new time for the church.
