Do you ever have those days when you go to the grocery store for one of two little things and end up spending $50 bucks on junk food? I had one of those days yesterday. I had gone grocery shopping on Tuesday for all of our major stuff, you know, milk, bread, cheese and the like. I didn't really need anything, but I had gone to a different store than usual so I wasn't able to go to the pharmacy for my refills so I had some time and some fairly happy kids yesterday morning so we went to the pharmacy. But, of course, you have to wait for prescriptions, right? And you can't just sit there for 20 minutes with two toddlers, so we wandered around the store. This particular store gives free cookies to kids so I told Beth we would go get a cookie and then I knew there were a few things I had forgotten to buy the day before so we could wander and find them. So what, you may ask, did I buy? Well on my healthy list was strawberries and nutri-grain bars (you can argue about their nutritional value, but Beth will eat them, so whatever). On the unhealthy list of things I bought? Doughnuts, Poptarts, brownie mixes (for Ryan's birthday party), cake mix and frosting (for James' birthday), chocolate sauce, butterfingers, muffin mixes, frozen french fries (there might be more, I can't quite remember)...I should have taken a picture of it all, it was really quite sad. You definitely would have had no idea our family is working on losing weight from that grocery cart. But that is not even the worst part. Remember those prescriptions I went to the store to get in the first place? They weren't able to fill them and I had to leave without them. That's right. 1 shopping trip, $50 worth of junk food, and 0 prescriptions...not my proudest day.
