Swimming Lessons

Beth did her first round of swimming lessons in July. She seemed to really enjoy it. She is very brave in the water and was pretty much open to whatever the teachers asked her to do. Its fun to watch my little water baby since I was a major water kid (James is definitely not a water baby so far, but we'll teach him!). She's obviously not swimming on her own yet, but she will definitely explore the water with her water wings on, and her teacher passed her so she can move on to the next level of lessons. We are taking a break from swimming for a month or two though, because Beth decided she wants to try tumbling next. That should be fun! I love letting her sample all the fun stuff that is out there for her to try.

Harry Potter Party!

I had the most fun last night at a Harry Potter party and movie! My friend Stacey decorated her house to the nines. Her house was platform 9 3/4. We hung out in gryffindor common room, drank butter beer, ate troll eyes, bat wings, chocolate frogs, and lots more! All the horcruxes were there, and the sorting hat, and her house was a serious fire hazard with about a million candles! As you can see in the picture, we all went in costume. We had Harry, Hermione, Luna, Tonks, Bellatrix, Professor Trelawny and other cast members. It was so fun pretending we were teenagers again. After the party we went to the 12:20 am showing of the movie. I wasn't sure I would stay awake, but I did, and I totally loved the movie! Of course they left things out, they have to, but I thought it was probably the best movie yet. Loved it. Today I am paying the conequences my partying, cause I am SOOOOO tired, I didn't get home until about 3:40am. But, It was worth it. Thanks again Stacey for the good party! I'll add a link to her blog once its done, cause she'll have more fun pictures.

Poor Kid

Beth is sick. She was threw up the night before last, but I thought it was a fluke from our trip to the movies and too many treats, but apparently not. She's been throwing up all morning. Poor thing. And poor me, I hate cleaning up throw up. Luckily she's been pretty good at using her bowl, but I still have a big pile of laundry already today. I love taking care of her, but I hate watching her so miserable. As you can see, we set up a bed for her in the living room and she's just watching movies, thank goodness I got a stack of new ones from the library the other day. Poor James is feeling really cooped up with two days stuck in the house with sick sister, so I'll have to keep him entertained, luckily he's a tv junkie too. Oh, the joys of motherhood.

New Beds!

After months and months of waiting on pins and needles, I will now reveal the decor in Beth's new room! (I'm sure you have all been DYING to see it). We finally got her new bed put up this week, and there are still a few final touches to add, but the general idea is done. We picked a Peter Pan/Tinkerbelle theme so that when or if the kids have to share a room we could have some masculine elements. As much as Beth would have loved to have it the pinkest girliest room ever, she seems to really like her new decor. My niece Chelsie is doing a painting of Neverland that will hang on the wall above the bed, and i'm thinking of doing some vinyl cutouts or something that say "Neverland" or "Believe" or something like that to put on the blue parts of the bed, or maybe the wall above her mirror, still playing with ideas...but you get the gist. James favorite part of the new bed was helping mommy and daddy put the bed together. He kept saying "What do ya think? Looks Good!" Very cute.

And, of course, with the addition of Beth's new bed we have moved the toddler bed into James room to start the transition process! He loves the bed, but so far has only slept in it once. I'm not putting the pressure on yet, just kind of letting him guide it, but hopefully he'll be all big boy soon!

Our 4th...Belated.

Our 4th of July was lots of fun this year, nothing big, but just the right amount of fun. The evening of the 3rd we went to the Riverton carnival. It was so much better than I expected! It wasn't too crowded, we didn't have to wait in line, and they had perfect rides for our kids. It was hot, but we survived by downing snow cones. I loved taking the kids. It reminded me so much of the many, many county and state fairs I went to with my dad growing up. I fell like that kind of thing was a huge part of my childhood and it made me so happy sharing it with my kids. They loved it! I, of course, forgot my camera so you don't get the adorable pictures of the first roller coaster ride and the blue snow cone faces. But, at least I can see them in my head!

The next morning we hung out with family for a little while. The kids had a great time jumping on the bouncy castle in Grandpa's backyard and playing with cousins. Then after we all took a good long nap, we went to Grandma and Grandpa Owen's for a BBQ and fireworks. The kids had a great time playing outside, soccer, looking for bugs, anything fun with the cousins! We did just a few small fireworks in the street, but the kids were really into them this year and not afraid, which was great fun! And, thankfully, they did great staying up late o it would be dark enough. It was good fun had by all!

I kinda liked the crazy affect of the sparklers in the dark, I had a lot of fun with it!

Dino Museum

Okay, I'm officially done being a blog slacker. The slew of blog posts begins today!

I'll begin with our adventure to the dinosaur museum with Grandma and Grandpa Owen last Monday for family night. The kids of course thought it was awesome. James was a little nervous, but that is also not a surprise. They both loved digging for fossils and all the other fun hand-on things they have there, except the wet sand. My kids are weird, they don't like getting dirty. I of course didn't take as many pictures as I had planned to, but I got a few. Here are some highlights.

Why she felt like kissing the dinosaur, i'm not sure...How funny is this picture? She was protesting the camera, but it looks like she's running from the shark.
Just a cute picture of Beth posing outside the museum.

Afterwards, we had to go to the ice cream shop for cookie sundaes, root beer freezes, and sugar cookies. Mmm, it wouldn't have been family night without that stop!

On a completely unrelated note, the kids had their semi-annual dental check-ups today. I LOVE our pediatric dentist. The kids did fabulous, their teeth are healthy, there were no meltdowns, no pain, no stress and anguish on my part. After my horrible childhood dental experiences and the dental phobia that followed, it really eases my mind to see my kids having a good experience with their dentist. *sigh of relief*
