Baby Catch Up

So, life has me a little behind right now, so I thought I'd better do a catch up post on my sweet baby girl. She's growing so fast! Although, she's still tiny for one of my kids!

On April 18th we blessed her. It was a great event. We felt completely surrounded by love with lots of family and friends in attendance. The circle included Ryan, Grandpa Owen, Grandpa Davidson, Great-Grandpa Evans, Uncle Dion, Uncle Daren, Uncle Doug, and surrogate uncles Asiel and Cameron, and of course the bishop. (Uncle Brent missed it by about a minute, but he was there in heart!). After the blessing we had a luncheon at our house and we were packed to the brim, it was very fun. I was too distracted getting food and mingling to get any good pictures, but here are a few snapshots of the crowd.

I can't get enough of her. She's still my most difficult baby, but we are figuring her out. She is much easier to win a smile from these days, and we are slowly getting her bedtime moved up to a reasonable hour. Although she still gets up a lot more often than I would like, she is doing great. She had her two month appointment on Monday (yes, two months already, I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!). She weighed in at 10 pounds, and was just over 22 inches long, and her head was 15.2 inches. That puts her in the 26th, 44th,and 42nd percentiles respectively. Neither of my other kids even approached that end of the percentiles, its so weird to have a little baby! I looked up the other kids weights at two months and they were 11 lbs. 13 oz. and 13 lbs. 13 oz.! Just a bit smaller than her brother, yowzer! She got 3 shots at the appointment and she was a wreck the rest of the day, but seemed fine by yesterday. Poor thing, it was so sad!

Sunday she went to her first full day of church, she was sufficiently oohed and awed over. :) But why wouldn't she be, she's so cute!!! Not that I'm biased or anything, but she is!

The Cake

Here is James' cake from his birthday. I've set a precedent of having to make a creative cake for the kids, and as much as I wanted to be lazy and make a rectangle with a can of frosting on top, this one was pretty easy and James loved it. It was perfect for my race care obsessed boy! He came away from the family party with 12 new cars and a semi truck...sheesh! :) He's one happy boy, he hasn't stopped driving cars around since.

Baby Announcement

In case you didn't get one...Forgive me, I'm still just surviving over here, brain power is running on low. :)

She had a weight check today and is up to 8lbs. 13oz.! That's Beth's birth weight, only took her almost 6 weeks to catch up. But, she's fatter than I expected, so I'm feeling good about it!

ITS HIS BIRTHDAY!!

Today my baby boy turns 3!!! I can't believe it. Time flies! James is the sweetest little boy. Not that he doesn't act like a toddler boy every now and then and drive me up the wall, but, for the most part, he is a delight. He's easily entertained, loving and sweet, easy to smile and laugh, sleeps well, he eats like a horse and even likes some healthy food! (a miracle after his sister...) He is all boy, he is obsessed with cars and can be found with at least one hot wheels car in hand at any time, even in his sleep, and he knows cars by make and model already. I adore him and have since the moment I laid eyes on him the day he was born. He is a great big brother to his new sister. We've only had a few moments of jealousy or acting out, but for the most part he is a great help and loves the baby. I cannot imagine our family without my sweet little man. Now, if only we can get him potty trained, life with him will be grand! :)

Happy Birthday to my little James! I LOVE YOU!

Family Pictures and Life

Here are a few of my favorites from our family photo shoot. So fun. The kids weren't always cooperative, but overall it turned out well.

In other news, I am still in survival mode over here. My house is in complete shambles most of the time, we're lucky if we have clean clothes to wear. My big kids have not been bathed in a week, yes I said a week, I'm a horrible mother. The baby has become a bit of a difficult baby in recent weeks and it wears me out. She's usually pretty good in the morning and takes good naps during the day (usually, today, not so much). But, the evening is tough, she cries a lot and needs constant attention. She also does not like her carseat or the car much at all, she eventually settles down, but spends lots of time in the car screaming. Dinner time has become my least favorite time of the day, its too hectic! I want to cry every time I realize its time for me to make dinner. I plan to do crockpot meals to ease my stress, and I inevitably forget. Luckily, she loves me sleepy wrap thing and it can usually calm her and allow me to have my hands free to get a few things done. She has good nights and bad, usually only 3 hour stretches, but occasionally longer. Then there are nights like last night where it was every hour or two. And some nights she cries until the wee hours when she finally collapses in exhaustion. We're working on it, and have found a few things that tend to help, but any suggestions would be appreciated! I think she may have a little reflux or something maybe, or maybe that's me hoping it is something that can be fixed and not just colic. Luckily, I am still enamored with her and forgive her for my exhaustion, she's too cute to be mad at! And Ryan is a great help, he takes the evening shift and sends me to bed around nine and will take care of her until she is settled down for the night, and feed her her last feeding, so that I can get a good stretch so I can make if through the wee morning hour feedings. So, the gist is, we are surviving, but not thriving yet! Hopefully soon I will get the hang of all of this and live in a clean house with clean children who don't watch movies all day...someday! So some slack is appreciated. :)
